Upgrading from MD2

Upgrading from MD2

Upgrading from MD2 to MD3 is a simple 3 step process:

  1. Begin by running a Pre-Migration data check on your MD2 database,
  2. Then install MD3
  3. The final step involves migrating your data to the new MD3 database.

Moving from MD2 to MD3 is a step by step process for existing users. Essentially, the process begins with performing your pre-migration checks on your existing MD2 data, followed by installing MD3. The final step in this process is the migration of your existing MD2 and/or PS3 data to MD3.

Note: The Pre-Migration Data Check is already available from MD2> Maintenance> Data Transfer Tab.

It is important to note that as this is a step by step process, you may select to perform the steps separately, for example, you may perform the pre-migration checks one week, install MD3 and/or PS3 the next week, and the migration of your existing data the following week.

The Installation and Migration routines have been designed to direct you through each step of the process. To help you through the Installation process, ample documentation, such as Checklists, will be provided which will enable you to track your progress through the Installation and Migration process.

Medical Director is designed to run in a 32 bit Windows environment and uses SQL. For information about supported operating systems and the hardware requirements check the System Requirements for MD3. If you want to know more about SQL click here.

Will I Lose Data or Need to Re-enter Information?

Provided you have not modified the MD data files in any way and provided you do not use third party applications that could modify patient data or data structures, all patient records in your MD2 system will be converted.
